FAQ's

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is an altered state of conciousness. During hypnotherapy, guided relaxation, focused attention and suggestions are used to help you enter a trance-like state (similar to daydreaming) for making positive changes, altering habits by accessing the subconcious mind. Treating issues such as anxiety, pain, phobias, addiction, etc.

The therapy is collaborative, whilst you remain in control, the therapist guides you into a state of deeper focus, allowing your mind to be more receptive to therapeutic ideas.

How does it work?

Induction – The therapist guides you into deep relaxation and focused attention by using a calming tone, imagery or focused objects.

Deepened State- You enter a very relaxed but fully aware and in control trance state.

Therapeutic suggesions- Positive suggestions are made by the therapist, to help you change any negative thoughts, perceptions or habits.

Emergence- The therapist brings you out of the trance, often feeling refreshed and alert.

Is it safe?

Yes, it is safe as you remain in control and you can stop at anytime. You cannot be hypnotised if you dont wish to be.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Most people can, especially if they want to, though a small number might be resistant.

Does it work?

It works for many issues (anxiety, phobias, pain, habits) but isn’t a magical cure, it is a collaborative approach.

Do i need to see a hypnotherapist more than once?

The number of sessions vary by issue. To stop smoking a block of 3 sessions usually works. Whereas anxiety may require 4-5 sessions.

I offer sessions face to face and online.
